2026 Tri-State SARE Field Workshops:

Registration is open for our 2026 SARE Field Workshops, continuing our focus on livestock carcass performance. Save These Dates:

  • June 9, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
    |UConn – Livestock Unit 1, 3123 Horsebarn Hill Rd, Storrs, CT 06268|

    • In conjunction with Dr. Sarah Reed, we welcome you to join us in discussing the effect that maternal nutrition has on offspring growth and development in sheep. We’ll assess backfat thickness, loin area, and depth using ultrasound on live sheep.
  • June 18, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
    |MEATWORKS – 287 State Rd, Westport, MA 02790|

    • Join us for a tour of this USDA inspected multi-species meat processing facility. The workshop to follow will examine carcass differences across feeding programs commonly seen in New England.
  • August 12, 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
    |UMass – Hadley Farm 111 N Maple St, Hadley, MA 01035|

    • Join us as we explore how forage maturity influences livestock performance. We’ll assess backfat thickness, loin area, and depth using ultrasound on live sheep.
